Please note as of 2/16/26: New York has increased its penalties for some traffic tickets, most notably, speeding a work zone is now 8 points regardless of the speed cited, passing a school bus is 8 points, and driving without a license has increased to 11 pts! In addition, the DMV now has a 2 year period before points reset to 0 - and lowered the threshold for a license suspension from 11 pts to 10.
